In its 140+ years of existence, the Clarendon Fire Department has always led the way—being among the first to adopt new technologies, develop response strategies, and work tirelessly to acquire the latest equipment. Innovation is essentially baked into the organization’s DNA. Understanding the value of a strong visuals and the intelligent use of social media to reach future members and potential donors, the department engaged with me to craft strong visual identity components to serve as the centerpieces of organizational pride.
Department Emblems
Fortune Favors the Bold
There had never been a serious effort to create a visual identity for the department. While similar organizations rely on stock graphics or copy the emblems from well known departments, Clarendon chose to stand out amongst the others.
Strike Team
The Strike Team is the Department’s “hotshots”—a small group of individuals specially trained to combat wildfires. This emblem was created to serve as a shoulder patch and helmet sticker.

140 years of volunteer service is an impressive milestone. These graphics were created in 2022 to celebrate the occasion.
Event Support
Connecting with a Larger Audience
Successful fundraising events are crucial for any volunteer community organization. The department chose an avenue to success that paired social media with great design to market their events. This strategy allowed the organization to reach far more people than ever before at zero cost, directly leading to increases in revenue, event attendance, and community outreach.
